Privacy policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Daily Vitals is a daily healthcare news and community app for India's healthcare leaders, run by the IHLN (India Healthcare Leaders Network) team ("we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can delete it. We never sell your information or show you advertising based on it.
Reading without an account
You can read the news without signing up. The app then creates a random device ID (not linked to your name or phone) and records simple reading activity against it: which stories are opened, read, saved or shared, poll votes, and whether you opened the app from a notification. We use these numbers to understand which stories are useful. If you allow notifications, we store your phone's push notification token so we can send you the daily edition and replies to your posts.
If you create an account
To post, comment, react or follow people, you sign up with your mobile number. We collect:
- Phone number, verified with a one-time code sent by WhatsApp or SMS. It is not shown to other members.
- Profile details you choose to add: name, role, specialty, organisation, country, a short bio, graduation year and a profile photo. Your name, role, organisation, bio and photo are visible to other members.
- Verification details, if you ask for a tick: a doctor's medical registration number, which we check against the public National Medical Commission register, or a photo of a student ID card. Student ID photos are private and only our admins can see them.
- What you post: posts, comments, reactions, the people you follow or block, saved stories, and reports you send about posts, comments or story errors.
How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, show your profile, posts and saved stories, and send notifications you asked for.
- To keep the community safe: review posts, act on reports, and verify doctors and students.
- To improve Daily Vitals, using totals such as how many readers opened today's edition.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that run the app for us, and only what they need:
- Supabase stores the database, sign-ins and photos.
- Twilio and WhatsApp (Meta) deliver your login code to your phone number.
- Expo, Google Firebase and Apple deliver push notifications.
- Vercel hosts our web pages.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account until you delete it. Anonymous reading numbers are kept as totals to show how the app is used.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Profile › Account and sign-in › Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, phone number, photo, student ID photo, posts, comments, reactions, follows, blocks and saved stories straight away. You can also ask us by email; see how to delete your account.
Your rights
You can see and correct your profile in the app at any time, and delete it as above. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to us at the address below and we will reply within 30 days.
Children
Daily Vitals is meant for healthcare professionals and students aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and protected by access rules so members can only change their own information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care to protect it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
